Girlfriend in a Coma

i know, i know, it's serious.
(:D hooray for the Smiths)
..i wish every day was like sunday...
or maybe i don't because then tomorrow would always be monday, and that would be quite distressing. for more good music, can i recommend ambulance ltd? you can listen to seven of their songs at i have lots more music recommendations, but i have more homework... i need to get my priorities straight. :S enjoy.

Happy Valentines, Hallmark!

see greeting card companies? we really do love you!!! we also love consumerism and capitalism and all that good stuff! hooray for corporate america! ;)
if ever a holiday was creating by card companies, this is it.
...although i have to admit, the chocolate dipped heart shaped cookies we had for lunch were worth starting a holiday for. :)
love, nikki

blah blah

ok, postponing homework again. I don't really have anything to say... not that i ever do. :S Tonight i am going to the Vagina Monologues... Smith does them every year. My roommate is in it... it should be good. I don't really feel like doing any work, because dinner starts in 40 minutes, and then i have to work because i told this girl i barely know but sometimes work with that i would do her shift tonight because she had something better to do... don't we all. So anyway, last night was amusing... a typical friday night at smith in which the top five (well, ok, 6... i though of another) things to do include, in no particular order:
1. Get drunk.
2. Do homework.
3. Color wildflowers in in a coloring book.
4. Watch (and laugh at/with) the people who are getting drunk and stumbling around in the hall.
5. watch movies.
6. look forward to brunch... seriously brunch is the hilight of my week. it rocks!!
sigh... i did 2, 4, 5, and 6 of course.... feeling rather accomplished. i also watched 3... so in a way, i was there for everything there is to do... it was fun actually. so, anyway... we shall see what a saturday night brings.... ;) ...fortunately there is brunch on sundays too. :D

Theatre History is desperately boring. And worse, it takes place on couches. How am i ever going to learn about Beaumarchais and Moliere and all those other french and italian and english 18th century playwrites if i can't even stay awake? blah. Philosophy is rocking though. I can't say that i understand it all, but that makes it so much better. Today we talked about objective reality and how god basically had to exist ( in Descartes mind) because he was perfect and one aspect of perfection is existence (if something doesn't exist, than it is less than perfect). then he went off about how dark is a materially false idea because there aren't really dark waves. it was great. at one point he told us it was okay if we didn't understand Descartes because his contemporaries didn't either. We also were told that Arthur Conan Doyle has more objective reality and therefore more perfection in idea that Sherlock Holmes... what will Scotland Yard think? ;) anyway, philosophy is great. at least it makes me think... that is all i ask. the bad news, yeah even worse than my theatre history class, is the fact that i am not ocming home for spring break. but i'm not going to think about that because i don't want to cry. :) love from smith... nikki

Superbowl Sunday

I heard the commercials aren't going to be as good this year because the companies are being careful to avoid anything too controversial. I guess there is a million dollar fine for anything risque and a few commercials have already been pulled. lame. the whole point of the superbowl is to sit around, eat snacks, and watch commercials... not that they are ever particularly brilliant... :S yeah, i could use a superbowl sundae...

Happy Rabbit's Day

For those of you who don't know, rabbit's day is the first day of every month... i'm really not sure where this came from. It occurs to me that a friend and I may have made it up in like fourth grade, but i've been celebrating it ever since. Celebrating rabbits day goes something like this:
me: Happy Rabbit's Day!!!!
poor unsuspecting person: huh?
me: umm... just smile and nod. (i use to explain it. i still do if they say huh? particularly convincingly, but usually they just don't care. it was traumatic to realize that.)
anyway, if you ever have heard of or celebrate rabbit's day, or if you'd like to start... please do. or just feel free to say huh?
